In Second Skin and 28 April we are invited into the domestic, daily reality of living with scarcity, Fife uses specific entries from her father’s diary written in 1955. Treated as an account book, each day is a record of how many rabbits were trapped and a tally of earnings. Substituting rabbit skins for wool and cotton, Fife draws upon this time with a sense of warmth and comfort, reflecting on how this work kept the family together, warm and fed.
